Insurance Information
Last updated: 21 June, 2023
This Insurance Information page explains how insurance-related options, documentation, add-ons, and reimbursement coordination may work when you use GlobalMedBooking for medical services or medical travel.
1. How Insurance Works on GlobalMedBooking
GlobalMedBooking helps patients understand available insurance-related options for medical travel, treatment planning, and optional care add-ons. Insurance availability depends on the selected provider, service, destination, insurer, and patient eligibility.
We do not guarantee that every clinic, doctor, procedure, destination, or package is covered by insurance.
2. Insurance Options May Vary
Depending on the provider and treatment package, insurance-related options may include:
- Travel medical insurance
- Procedure-related complication coverage
- Optional priority insurance care add-ons
- Coverage documentation requested by the clinic or provider
- Direct billing or reimbursement guidance where supported
3. What Patients Should Check
Before confirming a booking, patients should review:
- Whether the selected treatment is eligible for coverage
- Policy exclusions, waiting periods, and pre-existing condition rules
- Deductibles, co-pays, limits, and reimbursement caps
- Required pre-authorization or medical documentation
- Whether the insurer requires specific clinics, hospitals, or countries
- Emergency and post-treatment coverage terms
4. Documentation
Clinics, doctors, insurers, or payment partners may request documents before coverage can be reviewed or applied.
- Passport or identity information
- Medical history or treatment notes
- Doctor referral letters
- Diagnosis and procedure details
- Invoices, receipts, and booking confirmations
- Insurance policy number and insurer contact details
5. Provider and Insurer Decisions
Coverage approval, denial, claim timing, reimbursement amount, and final payment decisions are made by the insurer or relevant provider. GlobalMedBooking may help coordinate information, but we do not control insurer decisions.
6. Optional Add-Ons
Some bookings may offer optional add-ons, including insurance-related support. These add-ons are separate from the medical service unless clearly stated in the package details.
Any quoted insurance-related fee should be reviewed before checkout, including what is included, what is excluded, and whether the add-on is refundable.
7. International Patients
International insurance rules can differ by country and provider. Patients traveling abroad should confirm whether their policy covers overseas treatment, emergency care, complications, follow-up care, accommodation changes, cancellations, or return travel.
8. Payments and Reimbursements
Unless direct billing is confirmed in writing, patients may need to pay the clinic or provider directly and submit a reimbursement claim to their insurer.
GlobalMedBooking is not responsible for delayed, denied, or partial reimbursements by third-party insurers.
9. Changes, Cancellations, and Claims
Insurance coverage may be affected if a booking is changed, cancelled, rescheduled, or transferred to a different provider. Patients should contact their insurer before making changes that could affect coverage.
10. No Insurance Advice
Information on this page is provided for general guidance only and is not legal, financial, medical, or insurance advice. Patients should review their policy documents and contact their insurer or licensed insurance advisor for coverage-specific guidance.
11. Support
If you need help understanding what information a clinic may require for insurance review, contact our support team at [email protected].
